BEAUTY MUST DO’S TO PREPARE FOR HAIR AND MAKEUP SERVICES

As a hair and makeup artist my only destination is to leave my clients fully fulfilled.

After almost 20 years in the field of beauty I have seen repetitive hiccups that can easily be avoided.

GREAT HAIR AND MAKEUP TAKES TWO TO TANGO

Here are a few simple preparation tips that will go a long way in assuring that you are looking your best on camera and in person.

HAIR PREPARATION

Please wash and blow dry your hair the day before and put a volumizing product at your roots.

For thin hair or for added volume, you can blow dry your hair upside down.

This is important for any hairstyle including, glamour waves, hair down, half up half down and updo’s.

Why?

The hair needs products that are put in when the hair is wet to hold and add grip to the styling. Otherwise no amount of teasing or manipulation will help.

Please do not put oil products in the hair.

It‘s imperative for anyone receiving any type of hairstyling to have completely dry hair. This is a huge must unless you have requested a blowout.

Please pass this information on to any of your guests who are also having styling services.

SKIN PREPARATION

For a natural glow with minimal foundation, I use high quality hypoallergenic products that are light and sheer.

If your skin is dry and flaky the foundation will look cakey no matter how great the foundation is. Any kind of makeup on top of dry and flaky skin will make it look more noticeable.

Please exfoliate with a cream, oil or balm cleanser and a wet wash cloth with warm water. This can be done the night before your event or the morning of.

I start all of my sessions with a alpha hydroxy exfoliating treatment. As this product is not intended for the eye area it is important to exfoliate dry skin around the eyes.

Why?

Flaky skin as well as hair below the natural shape of the brows will make the shadows look muddy and dry looking. This will be accentuated on camera in photographs.

For the best complexion enhancement possible, consider facial hair removal as well as plucking or having your brows waxed or threaded.

These two steps really help to achieve the natural glow that is highly requested.

A few simple steps and we are ready to achieve whatever look is best suited for your personal preference.

Best Wishes,
